Exhibition/Installation

Placemaking NSW invites artists with an exhibition/installation to submit an expression of interest (EOI) for the Power Up Festival at White Bay Power Station from 20 to 22 September 2024.

Applications close 2 June 2024, 11:59 pm.

Who should submit

• The EOI is open to artists, collectives, and companies who wish to be included in the festival. Placemaking NSW strongly encourages applicants who reside or work in the Inner West area and White Bay Power Station local surrounds to apply.
• Exhibitions and installations may include artworks of any format including painting, photography, film, light, and sound.
• Power Up Festival is an inclusive event and Placemaking NSW encourages applications from a diverse range of applicants.

General requirements

• Artworks on display may be available for purchase by festival attendees. Placemaking NSW will not commission new works, nor purchase / acquire any works are part of this EOI. Fixings and installation will be the responsibility of the artist.
• Maximum of one application per artist group.
• All applicants must have an ABN.
• Successful applicants will enter an agreement with Placemaking NSW and will require public liability and other relevant insurances or licenses.

Assessment criteria

Applications will be assessed against the following criteria:

• Projects artistic merit
• Projects response to the site and inner west locality
• Projects technical requirements / suitability to the venue
• Practicality of the project budget.

Each criteria has a 25% weighting.

What happens next

Applicants will be notified of the outcome in late June 2024. Successful applicants will be contacted by Placemaking NSW to discuss further detail and planning.

Programming and opening hours of Power Up Festival are at the discretion of Placemaking NSW. All successful applicants will be required to enter into a contractual agreement with Placemaking NSW.
