Media Release | The Greater Sydney Commission's Chief Commissioner, Lucy Turnbull AO, today welcomed the announcement of the Stage One route for the Parramatta Light rail as a vital addition to public transport in Greater Parramatta and the Olympic Peninsula (GPOP).

"The Parramatta Light Rail will connect important precincts within GPOP including the Parramatta CBD, Westmead Health and Education Super Precinct, the new Western Sydney Stadium and Western Sydney University's three campuses.

"This is a great outcome for people living in the West Central District as well as those working, studying and socialising in this rapidly growing and changing part of our city.

"'This important investment further reinforces GPOP as the true centre of Greater Sydney, anchored by Parramatta CBD and Westmead at its western end.

"The new 12km of light rail with its 16 stops will add to the ever building momentum to this whole place which has so much going for it,' Ms Turnbull said.
