Billie Sankovic
City Commissioner - Western Parkland City
Billie Sankovic was appointed Western Parkland City Commissioner in December 2022.
Since 2015, Ms Sankovic has served as the Chief Executive Officer of the council for social development – Western Sydney Community Forum Inc, which is the peak regional advocacy body for community-based and managed organisations in Western Sydney.
In this role, Ms Sankovic has shaped service delivery and social policy across a region of 2.6 million people, and an annual service industry investment of more than $3 billion. Ms Sankovic represents and drives thought leadership and tangible collaborations across community, government and industry, that leverage the significant interest and investment in the region for social, economic and environmental benefit.
Ms Sankovic has spent 30 years working across Greater Western Sydney – for the community sector, in local and state governments, and at Western Sydney University, and has extensive leadership experience in community development, service delivery, social policy, and planning.
As a senior executive in local government, Ms Sankovic worked across portfolios in executive and strategy directorates, as well as operational leadership across a range of services and social infrastructure, developing a sound understanding of the integrated nature of planning, infrastructure, and service functions within their legislative context, to deliver benefits for local communities. Prior to local government, Ms Sankovic held policy and program roles in the NSW Government.
Ms Sankovic lives in the Camden local government area, and grew up in the Liverpool and Fairfield areas.
Ms Sankovic is an Honorary Fellow and Sessional Academic at Western Sydney University, and holds a Master of Human Services Management and Policy and Bachelor of Social Work (Honours).
